Bakdaljae Pass became nationally recognized through the trot song and is the 2nd of the Ten Scenic Views of Jecheon. In the past, it served as the only road connecting Chungju and Jecheon. However, since the opening of a tunnel in 1997, it has become more of a tourist attraction with a folktale of Bakdal and Geumbong than a road.

You can meet Obaeknahan and Mokgulam Hermitage, a buddhism sanctuary carved on a one thousand year-old zelkova tree. If you pledge love at the shrine of Bakdal and Geumbong, it will bring success in love. So you may actually pass Bakdaljae Pass with smile. At Bakdaljae Pass Tourist Information Center there are 2 Cultural Tourism Interpreters to give general information about travelling in Jecheon and Jecheon’s history and cultural stories, including the legend of Bakdaljae Pass. You can also buy local specialties.
